Grandma Gigi's Thoughts

Ethan is my first great grandson; he is so very special to me. Ethan and my granddaughter Geneveve went to the same school for the last few years. They were very close like two peas in a pod, best buddies. Playing together, looking after each other. I was the one that would pick them up at school and take them to the after school program at the Salvation Army.

In my wildest dreams I would never have guessed that Ethan would nearly drown at a place where we believed they would be safe.

Those precious moments are now gone. The laughter and chattering in the backseat is now gone. I still pick up Geneveve after school. Now it is a much quieter ride home. Oh how I miss those moments. I would give anything to have them back.

On Sunday May 31 2009 Rose and Ethan stopped by after church. Ethan recited John 3:16.

I kissed him on top of his head and gave him a big hug. Not knowing it would be the last time I would hear his voice. I thank God that Ethan is alive and improving, but our lives have been changed. Our world turned upside down. Yes life does go on, but at what cost?

I am thankful that we all have Jesus Christ in our lives, because without him we could do nothing. We couldn't be strong and bear what we have gone though. I thank the Lord for Rosa's strength. She is a rock and a pillar in Ethan's life. I would trade places with Ethan in a heartbeat. That awful day after I got the news I couldn't get to the hospital fast enough. I prayed for Ethan's life all the way. It's a day I don't want to remember. And yet I do...vividly.

The shock, the words spoken, the description of the injuries and extent, I couldn’t process it all. We all came together and we prayed for Ethan's life and healing. I believe that the lord will one day raise Ethan up and totally make him whole. As the Lord's promises are true. All we have to believe and not doubt.

Ethan you are precious. Your eyes, your face tell a story. You have an angelic quality. I know you have seen your guardian angel and a whole company of angels. You must have seen Jesus face to face, and seen the glory of God. I know you were sent back to be a witness to all, and I praise God for you.

Become one of Ethan's Buddies

Your generous donations help ensure Ethan will receive the treatments and therapies he needs. Treatments such as Hyperbaric Oxygen or HBOT are not covered by insurance, increasing the financial burden of caring for a special needs child.

Any amount you donate is greatly appreciated. Ethan would like you to offically become one of his buddies, and request an Ethan's Buddies wristband.

All I ask is on Ethan's behalf you help spread the word about water safety and commit to always swim with a buddy and follow all water safety rules.
